My jars have scratches, divots or swirls in or on the glass. Is this normal?
Scratches, divots, cooling swirls and other small imperfections are completely normal and can appear on the surface of the jars and glass lids. All glass jars and lids are submitted to an electronic eye that will detect serious flaws. Normally these imperfections in the glass are superficial and in no way reduce the integrity and performance of the jars during the canning process or food storage. Jars with cosmetic imperfections may be returned for a refund. Please see our return policy above.
What should I do if I cannot get my wood lids to stay on my jars?
The best way to seal the jar and have the lid not pop off is to start by pressing one small portion of the edge of the wood lid, including the silicone gasket, down into the jar, and then pushing the rest of the lid and gasket down in a circular motion, either clockwise or counterclockwise.
We also recommend washing the rubber gasket, letting it dry, and making sure both the gasket and inside rim of the jar are clean and free of dust, dirt or debris before sealing.
If you continue to have problems with your wood lids, please reach out to info@weckjars.com.
Can I use my wood and cork lids for food storage, and in the refrigerator or freezer?
The wood lids can be used for food and liquid storage, as they are made of Acacia wood. The wood lids can be used in the refrigerator, but we do not recommend using them in the freezer.
We do not recommend using the cork lids for food or liquid storage, as they are porous. We also do not recommend using the cork lids in the refrigerator or freezer.
Many customers use the wood or cork lids to store dry goods, however, the traditional glass lid, rubber ring and metal clamps, or the Keep Fresh Covers create the best seal for food storage.
Can I use my rubber rings more than once when canning with them?
While some customers do choose to reuse the rubber rings, the FDA recommends disposing of a used canning ring and using a new ring each time you can with a WECK Jar.
Why are my rubber rings stretching out?
Our rubber rings are made of natural rubber, so if they come in contact with an oil-based substance, they will stretch out.
We recommend storing them in a dry, dark area, and hand washing them to avoid dry rot caused by the bleach in the dishwasher detergent. We also recommend wiping the rim of the jar before sealing when using it with an oil-based substance.
Which jars and lids are freezer safe?
Our Mold Jar, Mini Mold Jar, and Quadro Jar collections are all freezer safe when using one of our Keep Fresh Covers and leaving 1”-1½” of headspace. (Refer to “Freezing in Glass” in the notes section)
I am new to canning, how do I get started?
Please refer to our Notes section (in the menu at the top of the website) for instructions, tips and tricks for canning with WECK Jars!
How can I get an airtight seal?
The only way to get an airtight seal is to process the canning jars with the glass lid, rubber ring and metal clamps in a water bath.
For a tight seal for storage, we recommend either storing with the classic glass lid, rubber ring and metal clamps, or using one of our Keep Fresh Covers.
How do I avoid breakage?
We recommend avoiding drastic temperature changes in order to avoid thermal shock. The temperature difference between the glass jar and the operating ambient temperature should not exceed 122°F (i.e. heating a jar from frozen at 0°F to recommended soup-serving temperature of 190°F or setting a jar right out of the oven on a cold surface.)
Sometimes through wear and tear of handling the jars, stacked one inside the other, stacked too close in the dishwasher, or in the freezer, setting the jars on marble/slate counters can over time cause a small hairline which will lead to breakage.
Do you offer promo codes, coupons, discounts or free shipping?
We do not run any promotions, coupon codes or discounts. We do not offer free shipping or discounted shipping fees. We are able to price our products as low as we do because we do not include shipping in the price of the product, unlike other retailers. If you see a third-party website referencing a “Weck Jar Coupon,” “Weck Jar Coupon Code,” or “Weck Jar discount code,” these are not valid offers.
Can I sell WECK Jars on Amazon, Walmart.com, Wayfair, or other eCommerce based websites?
We are not accepting new ecommerce based sellers as we have exceeded the amount of sellers, and we are now also selling on some of these sites. We are the sole importer for the U.S. and Canada and have exclusive selling rights. We are monitoring these sites and unauthorized sellers will be reported and shut down.
Do you ship to Hawaii, Alaska, Puerto Rico, Canada, etc.?
We ship via FedEx Ground within the 48 contiguous United States. We do not ship to Alaska, Hawaii, U.S. Unincorporated Territories, or internationally.
